Powerade updates label on plastic bottle

POWER

ADE

That is how the thirst quencher has listed its name on their bottle.

Powerade has been around since 1988 and was created by Coca-Cola to compete with Gatorade, the brand created by Robert Cade, a kidney disease specialist at the University of Florida, in 1965.

The brand did a smart thing too, enlarging the letters and using black type against a white background on some flavors, and vice versa on others.

The sports drink business is popular, where consumers spend billions of dollars per year, so I think Powerade move was smart because the letters look like science fictionish and new. I drink both Gatorade and Powerade

In fact, Gatorade added Gatorade Zero, that has no sugar. It has been very popular observing consumers to compete with Powerade Zero.

Gatorade is also coming out with Flow. When it hits my supermarket shelves, I’ll blog about it with a review.
