Hershey’s Kisses changes packaging reduces size on Classic bags

Classic bag now called Share bag

Content drops 10 percent from 12 ounces to 10.8 ounces of chocolate.

When I grabbed a bag of Hershey’s Kisses today from the supermarket I noticed the classic bag changed.

It still is in plastic, and now to open it you tear it across the top instead of pulling it open.

Great.

I thought the new packaging was sleek. The images are larger to show detail. Ummm chocolate.

Even the milk chocolate tag is now in white letters against the kiss on the bag, not against a blue background.

Then I looked at the bag I had bought previously of Hershey’s and stared at the net ounces.

The previous package size was 12 ounces. The new one…10.8% ounces.

A ten percent drop.

Now I wonder if they shrunk the bags on the other packages too.

Packages change, and packages change size too. Usually, they shrink, like Bird’s Eye steamers. orange juice containers from 64 to 59 ounces.

Hershey’s is a well-known brand and when you think of chocolate. you think of Hershey’s.

Packages shrink. like the Hershey’s classic bags have. It happens. it seems like there is more plastic because of the new packaging.

How many customers will notice? Or should they put in the bag in giant copy: 10% LESS.

Less is not good copy unless its less fat or sugar or salt, but some would argue that is relative.

People look for bargains and more food, not less. Hershey’s was smart to update their packaging so the package containing less appears less apparent.  I think.
