After witnessing employees from Shipt by groceries for their clients I believe that this is a trend that is going to continue and will reduce the amount of customers shopping in any supermarket by a third.

The reason why I say this is because consumers are busy. Busy with their jobs, families, lives in general, and if they can pay someone to save time by buying it for an annual fee to have products delivered to your door then those who can afford to will do that.

Instacart is another company that delivers groceries to your door for a fee.

It is being predicted that 4 out of every 10 jobs by 2020 will be individual own businesses.  Entrepreneurs need time to work and may not have an assistant to pick up for them. This is where the Shipt and Instacarts of the world fill the void.

There will be other companies starting up to deliver groceries as well. I would not be surprised to see these companies partnering with the supermarkets to work on deals in order to generate business.

It is an exciting time to be a supermarket…and an entrepreneur. There are major opportunities to disrupt the market, especially in grocery delivery services.
