As the battle for supermarket superiority grows, there are a couple of things that supermarkets can do to improve their business.

1. Offer top of the line customer service. Acknowledging customers walking up and down the aisles not just letting them walk can build trust and brand loyalty.
2. Have a well merchandised grocery store. Making sure the aisles are shelved well and neatly presented can make a big difference in the amount that is sold each day. Plucking items from the back of the shelf and moving them forward to make visible will lead to additional sales.
3. Rotating food product. Using the First in First Out method for stocking shelves will increase sales and reduce shrink. This can lead to lower prices if more products are being sold rather than removed because it is out of date.
