There have been too many times when I pick up an item in a supermarket where the best used date has passed

Chances are there are hundreds of items on your supermarket shelves that have not been rotated. Thus they stay on the shelf for too long and cannot be sold.

The result: lost food and tossed inventory.

It’s too bad that this is happening in many supermarkets all over the US and around the world.

As a grocery associate I work to rotate food so it does not get expired and cannot be sold.

But the task is daunting. It is a challenge to stock and rotate food at the same time, — but it must be done.

We need to converge as grocers to work with food manufacturers to find better ways to save food from being removed on the shelf because the best buy date has passed.
