Let’s face it. There is a trend in a growing supermarket industry. New players like 365 and Whole Foods, Earth Fare, Lucky’s and Aldi’s are growing. In addition, Publix and Kroger and also slowing expanding into new markets.

So does a grocery manufactur market their product in a a supermarket filled with 40,000 products. Yes, 40,000 products.

I think they study the market and use coupons, but they also provide the benefits on the paclagge, like low fat, gluten free, made with natural and artificial preservatives, low fat, homemade, etc. They are trying to find a niche, then shelf space, followed by packagging.

What makes you fill up you shopping cart. Is it price or packaging. Or both?
