It is so easy for customers to walk into your supermarket and not be greeted by any employees. You might say great, I’m being left alone. However, technology has distanced ourselves from connecting with people, so it is important for grocery stock clerks to get plugged in and actively listen to their customers.

All it takes is to say “Hello” and genuinely help them. The next thing is most important, — that is to listen to their response and match their energy. If they speak fast, speak a little faster. If they smile, you should smile too. If they are walking aimlessly staring at where things are, ask them if they need help locating an item.
